benevolent love in wicked black

benevolent love in wicked black

After a year of our relationship, this is our first formal portrait together. Well, almost formal if Chis had worn a button-down shirt or something - but he could be wearing a cardboard box and still look classy and handsome. Anyway, check my comment below for more photos - including some from Christmas dinner with the family! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday!

Oh, and a few updates:

- Chris and his mom, Janet, arrived on the 15th. She left back for New York last Wednesday. What a fun week we had! Janet finally got to meet my aunts and they just love her, just like they love Chris. Chris is still here (as in, permanently, until we one day move to Austin) and he's currently looking for a job. He was an EMT and a firefighter up in New York, he's 23 and college graduate, he's a musician (he's still in his band, The Last Alliance) and a producer, he fixes computers and guitars, he's given guitar lessons, he sings... In other words, the job possibilities for him here are endless! He might go back to doing the EMT gig, while still doing the things he's most passionate about. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I'm so proud to be his lady - his Sicilian lady in black. ;)

- A good family friend of ours and soldier, Kurt Kern, was killed by an IED Tuesday night. We found out yesterday. Needless to say, we were all hysterical. Rest in peace, Kurt, and thank you for your service to this country. You’re safe now. There were some stories about him on the local news stations and quite a few articles were written. Here's one of them. He was such a charming, smart, loving young man. Why do the good always die young? There must be a meaning to this.

- I'll be launching my new website in the near future. Just have to purchase the domain name and I'll design it through Tumblr. I'll also be managing The Last Alliance's blog. AND, I have a simple stop-motion project in mind. So many fun projects!

- I was put on new medications a few weeks ago. I switched from Prozac to Symbyax and Klonopin to Xanax. Symbyax also has 6mg of Xanax in it, which has really helped with my rage. I feel so much better. My psychiatrist really knows what he's doing, and he's such a sweet man.

- My great friend, AJ, returned home from the Navy last Friday for a visit. He goes back to his compound in San Diego on Sunday. :( Although he’s still the same kind and funny kid I knew before he left, he also seems very disciplined - and man, his muscles got even bigger! I love this guy, and I’m so grateful to have him as one of my best friends.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. So, as of last Saturday, I'm a service clerk at Walgreens. I've never worked a register in my whole life until just recently!

the happiest puppy

the happiest puppy

Out of all our dogs, Vivian brings me the most joy. She is the most gentle, affectionate, grateful dog I've ever had. She is so happy to be alive, and she lets us know every day how thankful she is that we saved her (and her unborn puppies) from being euthanized. There's always light around her. She must be an angel.
