Te Koha Waiata, The Gift of Song

Te Koha Waiata is a male Kokako who lives on Tiritiri Matangi. Kokako have amazing songs, and I managed to catch a bit of his voice in a video as he sat in a Cabbage Tree calling a few notes. Yet again I didn't have a tripod so the video is handheld.

Bath Time

Bath Time

I think this is my photo of the summer, because other than a few days like this it hasn't been very summery! Greg the Takahe was making the most of an afternoon break from the rain. He got down onto the beach and had a big flap around in the water, attracting a crowd as usual. Greg is a very special bird, one of less than 250 Takahe left in the world.
