Spring colors

Spring colors

While we were in Augsburg we also visited the botanical garden because they had a special exhibit with butterflies. i have to say, i was a bit disappointed in it, because they only had a few butterflies in a closed off area that was very small with a small walkway (1 meter wide) and way too many people and kids in there to really see or photograph anything. this was even worse because there were three or so "serious" photographers in there with their huge tripods and huge lenses that took up half of the room in the exhibit.... sorry that I am ranting but I almost got into an argument with one of them because I had the audacity to step to the side to take of my jacket and by mistake hit a sign behind me that made the flower shake he was trying to take a photo of with his camera on a tripod. he was throwing me a serious case of the evil eye for something that was an honest mistake and it was not like the flower didn't stop shaking a minute after or had a butterfly on it or something...

sorry for ranting but i think it is a great case to show that even if you are serious about your photography, there is no need to be so super serious about people getting in your way by mistake.

Straight as an arrow...

Straight as an arrow...

i swear, my camera was level when i took this photo. this stairs are actually that crocked and the ceiling is that low.

This is a staircase to get to the top of the original wall that surrounded the city of Augsburg during the Middle Ages. i initially liked it for the view onto the top of the stairs (the setting sun had everything in a beautiful orangy-light) but during processing i loved the textures in the stones even more, so i went for that in this version. it is a HDR made from three exposures and processed in HDR efex pro.

it looks even better on a black background or on an iPhone display (where it is my background atm)

Utilize the time

Utilize the time

I spent the weekend in Augsburg. The above image is of a small church in the Fuggerei (I'll talk more about it in the coming days) and the sun clock in the tower reads "Nütze die Zeit", which translates to "Utilize the time" or carpe diem if you will. i really liked this for a sun clock.
I decided on this two-part image because you cannot really see it in the full size image but I like the full-size image, too. so I made a two part image from the one big image.
