Brian K. Vaughan @ Image Expo 2012
Day one was pretty cool. I almost didn't plan on going since there was only the keynote, but last minute I thought why not. I was able to see my all time favorite comic book writer ever, along with two newer favorites that would have probably inched him out of that position if it wasn't for his upcoming book Saga. On a side note about Saga, I feel terrible that I didn't bring anything for Fiona Staples to sign. I wasn't aware until later that I had purchased most of the books she's done absolutely beautiful covers for(DV8 and THUNDER Agents). I'm gonna bring the ones I liked the most for her tomorrow.
I also sort of regret not bringing stuff for Robert Kirkman to sign because the line wasn't all that long. I probably should have photographed Nick Spencer while he signed my stack, but I was caught up asking questions and talking about his work. He assured me he has a project that will be announced soon due towards the end of the year that will make up for Iron Man 2.0 being cancelled, and he described it as the project he really wanted when he got his Marvel gig.
Seriously though, DC and Marvel need to watch it. Image is not only just housing the best of today, but some of the best ever. More Nick Spencer and Jonathan Hickman. Brian K. Vaughan. Brian Wood. Frank Quitely. Brian Hitch. Tony Harris. Grant fucking Morrison.
And of course I didn't forget this(really who doesn't love McKelvie/Gillen and some Phonogram): one. more. time.

Lonewolf
My friend Alex and his nerdcore group The Shogunate performed earlier today at Animation on Display in Japan Town. I haven't seen him play in a while and I finally got to hear some of his newer songs live which was fun. Too bad the masquerade was on at the same time though :\ Despite that, he still managed to look like he had a lot of fun with his friends and family watching.
I decided to try shooting in raw and wasn't really happy with the results, at least in color. I'm not sure if it's because of using DNG Converter, or because I just got so used to in-camera assistance with my photos and I suck without it. It's also possible that it was just really dim in the Hotel Kabuki. I remember not being happy with my Ken Ken Ramen photos, and the conditions were more or less the same if not worse. Oh well.
I also managed to pick up the last two volumes of 20th Century Boys at Kinokuniya that I missed on Valentines Day because we were running late :D
