The Vietnamese people love music, and their recording artists are very important to them. Young Viet girls can only dream of one day when they can be famous, like this one.
Don't ask me to translate this album cover. Though I spoke fairly fluent Saigonese in the 60's, I have long forgotten all of it. This old mind doesn't do to good with English, much less a second language skill.
This may be of interest to you, though. The Vietnamese people practically worshiped Nat "King" Cole. When Cole died of lung cancer on February 15th, 1965. shop owners closed their shops and stores all over Saigon, and It was headline news in the Saigon Post.
Nat "King"Cole was also one of my favorites singers of all time. I was in high school when his songs were so popular on radio.
They try to tell us we're too young
Too young to really be in love
They say that love's a word
A word we've only heard
But can't begin to know the meaning of
And yet we're not too young to know
This love will last though years may go
And then some day they may recall
We were not too young at all
And yet we're not too young to know
This love will last though years may go
And then some day they may recall
We were not too young at all
Note: Cole was only 45 when he died. Seems to me a remarkable career so early in his life. Some of you old dudes like me will remember, we first heard of him in the "King Cole Trio". :-)
