nice! At first glance of the thumbnail i thought, "that looks like a cool street portrait." Then, when i opened it I thought, "that looks like Anton Newcombe"...scrolled down...aha! Really cool portrait. Where you shooting for a magazine or something or just happened to bump into him and asked to take a photo? There has to be an interesting story behind this...

Kasari,

Thanks for viewing - glad you spotted him! Here's the story...

I was walking around shooting like I always do on the weekends and was down on Houston Street passing Billy's Antiques and Props (pretty well known vintage/antique/junk shop). They always have wild stuff out front and I had my camera ready to shoot. Just as I am passing by he appears in the entry with his little light-up monkey and proceeds to have a whole conversation with me through the monkey. He was with some pretty interesting characters - a guy in a southern plantation style suit smoking a cigar who you can see in the left side of the image who I think may own the place. At the time I didn't recall his name but knew he looked familiar and asked to take his picture (with his pet monkey, of course). I got halfway down the block and realized who he was - I had seen DiG!, owned an album, and saw them live once. I went back and told him I loved his music and he really appreciated it. I think he was surprised I recognized him. I talked to him for a bit and then headed on. I always liked this picture and still like his music a lot. This is why I love New York City - you never know what you are going to see.

Glad you like it too. :)

Wow what a great shot. Never seen BJM live yet but have several albums. Had bigger expectations for recent disc but it's OK - maybe it's a creeper.
