This is actually a photo I took a couple of years ago when we were in California visiting the family at Thanksgiving. It was seriously under-exposed but with some help from Photoshop I was able to make it half-decent. The tall ships in the harbor there are so lovely - especially in the late afternoon sun.

Dedicated to the memory of J.C. Nichols, the developer of Kansas City's Country Club Plaza, this is one of the most treasured water fountains in town.

This is a photo taken back in September.

We were driving home from the Joplin area - headed east - when I noticed (in the rear view mirror) sunset colors starting to form in the sky. The colors kept getting brighter and brighter until the sky looked like it was on fire. We finally pulled over to the side of the road so I could take some pictures of it.

Shortly thereafter, we got on the highway.... and the sky then became even more spectacular - but there was no place to pull over this time! Finally, about six or seven minutes later we were able to exit the highway and pull over so I could jump out of the car and take one as the color was dying. What an incredible sight!
