Once in awhile I like to experiment with applying textures...

I couldn't resist posting just one more shot of this snow drift. It reminds me of the folds on a wedding gown...

It was the texture of the snow that interested me here. I've taken many, many shots of these particular bins and always try to position the tree between bin number two and bin number three. The tree is actually a good mile or two off and I'm sure it would take at least an hour to walk to, if not longer. It's very interesting to me that if I use my wide angle lens (focal length 16mm as here), the tree appears to be quite small, but if I use my 70 - 200, that tree appears to be quite tall (the distance between them is compressed).

Same day as the last shot but the sun had disappeared behind the clouds. This is a closer view using the same wide angle lens. The snow looks soft and fluffy but actually, it had been so driven by the wind that it was packed solid and I could walk on top of it without going through...
