Bull Jagger released their second beer this week, a rich and roasty Baltic Porter. It is 8% ABV, but you don't taste the alcohol. Great winter drinking!!

Valentine’s Day at Sonny’s, a room full of happy couples and singles, most here for a first taste of Portland’s newest brews from Bunker Brewing. Brewmaster Chresten tells us about the Vienna-style lager (toasty and delicious) and grapefruity “Ale”, as well as the soon-to-arrive Rye and Hopscotch. These bold beers should pair well with the bold flavours of Sonny’s food – must come to dinner soon.

S&H has received glowing reviews from all angles and it’s all well-deserved. We enjoyed a quiet early morning brunch recently. Pictured is the spaetzle with gruyere and onions (still dreaming about this dish). Equally delicious were the house-cured salmon and light, crispy potato cakes. I can’t wait to eat my way through the menu, again and again.

Empty shop during the February thaw. Attractive, interesting art, board games, comfy seating area, energizing music. Many flavours to choose from – fortunately you can mix and match. Initially it tastes fresh, bright, fruity, hints of spice, but by the end it tastes artificial, heavy.
