guess what! i tried to shoot stars again last night:) on queen anne hill under the radio tower! and i was sooooo excited 'cause i thought it was stars, but then i got home and i am now thinking it was in fact NOISE! :( sad little m

Sorry m... It can be frustrating even when you shoot far from city lights so Queen Anne might not be the best place for star shots, I'm not familier with your Sony's ability to handle noise at higher iso settings or if it offers noise reduction in the menu but that's critical to getting clean stalled star images. You should be able to get good star trails shots if you use the lowest iso setting at the widest aperature using your fastest lens but you need to be where it's really dark! lbs:)
