Welcome Home, 441st Ordnance Battalion
Children get a sneak-peak of their father, SFC Shallbetter, as he and his battalion prepare to enter the National Guard armory on Thanksgiving Eve.
Shallbetter and about 40 other soldiers from the 441st Ordnance Battalion were returning home after being stationed in Iraq for a year.
While in Iraq, the unit was the command and control for five Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Companies and two Air Force EOD Flights, serving a direct support role to the 1st Armored Division assigned to Combined Joint Task Force Troy.
The unit also assisted, trained and advised the Iraqi EOD security forces to defeat the improvised explosive device (IED) threat internally, providing stability for the Iraqi people and their government.
