"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 6
A young nomadic Changpa girl with flocks of hundreds of goats.
Another wonderful day and it’s been uneventful journey back from Tsomoriri to Leh where we passed a camp of nomads in Changtang Plateau, east of Ladakh.
The Changthang is a high altitude vast flat land surrounded by mountains, valleys, and big lakes. The people of the Changthang are nomadic, and are known as 'Changpa' (northern people, the Tibetans, and the Ladakhi). For centuries they have lived in this high altitude landscape. Their live stock consists of yak, horses, sheep, and pashmina goats locally known as Changra goats.

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 6

I don't know how to start a story of Morup Dorjay (Dorjee), he certainly was a dedicated guide in our 8 days in Ladakh.
Dorjee was a smart guide with excellent knowledge about Ladakh and its culture. Not only that, he also understand when we wanted to find photo shoot location with timetable we expected.. In fact, we never found any difficulty when going to a dialogue with local people, farmers, monks or nomads in the series of photo shoots that we had planned.

This photo was photographed in front of a bridge that crossed Indus river in the area Himya where the 3 idiots movie scenes was made.

The Timeless Beauty of Tsomoriri

The Timeless Beauty of Tsomoriri

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 6
The Tsomoriri lake is exquisite and forever embedded in my memory with incredible scenery around, not only surrounded by barren mountains but also delighted by the sight of greenery along the shores. Sometimes wildflowers added a tinge of color to the bleak Tso Moriri.

The Land of Endless Discovery

The Land of Endless Discovery

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 6
After taking some pictures near by our campsite, we continue our morning walk around the shores, trying to catch some different foreground. Tsomoriri is a stunningly beautiful lake with an incredible scenery around, not only surrounded by barren mountains with snow-capped mountain peaks, but also delighted by the sight of greenery along the shores. Sometimes flowers added a tinge of color to the bleak Tso Moriri.
This is the land of endless discovery.

The Wetland of Tsomoriri

The Wetland of Tsomoriri

"Adventure in the Land of the Ancient Gods"
LADAKH : Day 6
There are a lot of small streams bringing water which flows abundantly from snow melting to the lake of Tsomoriri. This lake is a closed drainage basin that holds water even does not allow any outflow to other bodies of water like rivers or streams. That’s why the lake evaporates very quickly that giving the water a salty taste over the centuries.
Tso-moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve, also known as Tsomoriri or Lake Moriri, is a picturesque lake in the Changthang plateau area of Ladakh situated at an altitude of 4,595 meters (15,075 ft) and nearly 27 kms long. This is the largest of the High Altitude Lakes in the Trans-Himalayan region.
