Patagonia Winds

Patagonia Winds

While hiking in the Torres del Paine region, one thing was constant...wind. We seriously thought we made a mistake once we started hiking into 35 mph headwinds on our first 12 mile day. The Torres, which rise abruptly from the Patagonia steppe, are obscured by clouds in the background.

Fitz Roy

Fitz Roy

I just returned from a 3 week trip to Patagonia. While down there I saw the most amazing scenery. This shot was taken early in the trip on our way to Cerro Fitz Roy.

White River

White River

Jarek and I headed up to the White River this morning hoping for a nice sunrise. It was the first time either of us had been to this location with the camera. Everything was looking great for the first 20 minutes we were there, but then these dang clouds rolled in and blocked Hood. So, basically all I got was a pretty shot of the river. In this shot you can barely see the summit of Hood through the clouds during the only 5 second cloud clearing we had. I'm excited to go back to this location...hopefully sometime soon.

Check it out on black.

Foggy Punchbowl Falls

Foggy Punchbowl Falls

Punchbowl Falls was raging on Saturday. The color of the water was a sweet bluish-emerald which made the water look really cold (as in not about to wade in the creek without a spare set of clothes waiting for me in the car). The snow had just about melted along Eagle Creek, but the fog lingered all morning.

It looks better large on black.

Metlako Falls

Metlako Falls

I shot Metlako Falls from this classic viewpoint for the first time yesterday. It was a classic day in the Gorge...wet and a bit eerie with fog in the air. I knew that Eagle Creek would be flowing strong, but, man, there was a lot of water gushing down the canyon. With all the rain we've had in the last few days and the snowmelt, the creek was definitely more like a river. It made me rethink wading into the creek at Punchbowl Falls.

Metlako is a very scenic waterfall, especially with the fog that always seems to hover above it.

This shot definitely looks better large on black.
