One has to remember that compared to the
U.S., which has an African-American
population hovering around 39 million, Brazil
has an approximate Afro-Latin American
population of 87 million. To quote the BBC,
'No other country outside (the continent of)
Africa has such a large black population'.
It is really cultural differences that
determine comfort with this kind of
advertising. Yes, you'd never get away with
it in the U.S., but when you think about it,
that kind of racial divisiveness is not cool
either.
