Mika's mom out-did herself (as usual) with our first dinner back in Fukui - a bottle of fine sake for her dad, brother and myself, chicken karaage, sashimi, inari, salad, tamago and rice, and many other delicious treats.

you know what my favorite part of staying at mika's family's place is (besides the awesome company and delicious food)? that every day ends with a shower and super hot bath, which is pretty much the perfect thing right before climbing into bed for a great sleep.

after visiting with the rest of the family, we packed up the car and drove for many hours along the japanese expressway towards fukui. shortly before dinner, the sun began to set, and peeked through the clouds, lighting up the snow covered rice fields in front of Mika's family home.
