After some time I again made last Sunday a short hike through the park in Stuttgart. Every time I'm there I think how I love the way the creek meanders through the meadows.
The State Capital lies amidst vineyards and forests, and plenty of parks and green spaces entice visitors to linger a while. What is known as the "Green U", in which a number of parks were combined at the time of the International Garden Show (IGA) in 1993 to form a vast green area eight kilometres in length, runs from the Schlossgärten to the Killesberg.
Here you can walk, play, rest and enjoy nature, well away from roads and traffic. Paths and bridges link the Schlossgartenanlagen, Villa Berg Park, Rosenstein Park and the Wilhelma, Leibfriedscher Garden, the Wartberg and the Höhenpark Killesberg, right out to the Feuerbacher Heath and the Kräherwald Forest. Nach längerer Zeit machte ich letzten Sonntag mal wieder eine kleine Wanderung durch den Schlosspark Stuttgart. Jedes Mal denke ich wie schön es doch ist wie sich der Bach durch die Wiesen schlängelt.
Der Park ist als das Grüne U bekannt. Dabei erstreckt sich über 8 Kilometer eine u-förmige Grünanlage, von den Schlossgärten bis zum Höhenpark Killesberg. Das Ziel, die verschiedenen Parks und Gärten zu einem Ganzen zusammenzufassen, wurde seit den 1920er-Jahren verfolgt und ist mit der Internationalen Gartenbauausstellung (IGA) 1993 vollendet worden.
Brücken und Stege verbinden die Schlossgartenanlagen, den Park der Villa Berg, den Rosensteinpark und die Wilhelma, den Leibfriedschen Garten, den Wartberg und den Höhenpark Killesberg zu einer großen zusammenhängenden Parklandschaft.
Die einzelnen Teile haben ihren jeweiligen Charakter behalten und
tragen die Handschrift unterschiedlicher Epochen und Personen. So ist
das Grüne U nicht nur landschaftlich und gestalterisch reizvoll,
sondern bietet auch einen Streifzug durch die Gartenkultur und
