The Mallard probably the best-known and most recognizable of all
ducks, is a dabbling duck which breeds throughout the temperate and
sub-tropical areas of North America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and
Australia. The duck is 56 – 65 cm long, has a wingspan of 81 – 98 cm,
and weighs 0.9 – 1.2 Kg.
The female Mallard is light brown, like most female dabbling ducks.
They inhabit most wetlands, including parks, small ponds and rivers.
Usually they feed by dabbling for plant food or grazing. There are
reports of it eating frogs. The Mallard usually nests on a river bank,
but not always near water. Quelle: Wikipedia.
I've seen this duck in the castle park in Stuttgart, Germany and love her dreaming glimpse.

Die Stockente ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Entenvögel
(Anatidae). Als Stammform der Hausente ist sie die größte und am
häufigsten vorkommende Schwimmente Europas. Sie kommt im größten Teil
Eurasiens sowie weiten Teilen Nordamerikas vor. Neben Gewässern aller
Art in der Großstadt besiedelt sie auch Kleinstgewässer der Ackerflur.
Ähnlich anspruchslos ist sie in ihrer Nahrung.
Die Stockente, auch Wildente genannt, wiegt 700 bis 1.500 Gramm. Ihre
Länge beträgt maximal 58 Zentimeter und ihre Flügelspannweite bis zu
95 Zentimeter und sie kann maximal 110 Kilometer pro Stunde schnell
fliegen. Ihre Lebenserwartung beträgt bis zu 15 Jahre.
Das Männchens (Erpel) ist prächtig gefärbt. Mit Ausnahme im Zeitraum
zwischen Juli und August wo er sein Schlichtkleid trägt und dem
Weibchen zum Verwechseln ähnlich sieht. Das Federkleid des Weibchen
ist nicht so farbenfroh und hat eine braun-grau gesprenkelte
Tarnfärbung. Das einzig Auffällige ist der Flügelspiegel, der dem des

Gesehen habe ich die Ente im Schlosspark, Stuttgart und liebe ihren träumerischen Blick.
