Another from a photoshoot with Danielle.

I know some of you might know already, but i dispise using my 18-55mm lens for the one reason - it's crap. Especially when you've owned it two years and it's been in the bottom of your camera bag and tossed around on many photoshoots. The autofocus doesn't even work, and to make it focus, you have to kind of autofocus it, hold the lens when it is focused and the lens makes this squealing noise, then quickly switch to manual with your free hand then take it! All this and I'm trying to capture action shots, handy! very handy!

I need to invest in a better one.

To the point - this was took with my 18-55 lens, as much to my hate towards it, i wanted the the effect.

I too hate the 18-55.. I think for my birthday I will get myself a better one. Great work, even better considering the circumstances. :)

Ack, I guess I won't be getting one of those, I was thinking about it...

Anyways, you did capture the motion quite well considering! Summery and moody.

      I love the care-free essence of this photo;
how her dress seems to float, as do the clouds.
      lovely :)

      lol wow,
      that sounds like a blast.
when i got my dslr i decided to go with the 18-135, instead of 18-55 and it's genious... pure genious.
lowest aperature is like 3.5 though, which sucks.
      BUT.
      it's a loverly lens.

      Haha, love the tag. :p

I bought my 30D body only, I knew before hand that kit lenses were crap. I wanted a wide angle though so I got the 17-40 L. :)

I like the movement you captured here, regardless of the lens you used.

my 18-55mm works great. but what do you suggest?

    29. Stefano Sgambati (59 months ago | reply)

The barrel effect is good, I use it in a lot of occasion. I second you that for portaits the 50 mm is much better...

i love the movement, even though it seems that the lens gave you a lot of trouble, it captures the essence quite well, and the water and clouds are a perfect addition to the shot!
