Day 55- TGIFFFF* but dodging tornados!

Day 55- TGIFFFF* but dodging tornados!

February 24, 055/366 (1516/1827)- *Thank God It's Flying Female Fisheye Friday, even though we are under a tornado watch all day. Not exactly a poster day for the "Sunshine State". Taken on our football practice field, but not sure why the floodlights are on here. I wonder if it's hard to jump in those pretty magenta rain boots?

Strobist- Only had one lonely SB900 with me so I had another student hold it about eye-level just to the left of the camera, fired TTL with Nikon CLS, 10.5mm Nikon fisheye.

Day 54- Waiting for a ride?

Day 54- Waiting for a ride?

February 23, 054/366 (1515/1827)- I was leaving pretty quickly after my last class so I could get to doctor appointment to get my stitches out when I noticed one of my students leaning on a pole waiting for a ride I guess. She is one of my better photographers and a fun person to be around overall, as you can tell by her shoes probably.

She recently reminded me that I taught her mother also; some days I do feel like I've been at this job for a while!

Day 53- Ash Wednesday preparations!

Day 53- Ash Wednesday preparations!

February 22, 053/366 (1514/1827)- Today is Ash Wednesday observed in many churches, including my Episcopal church. I had to do my "day job" this morning but I was there to help with the evening service. In the larger vessels are ashes from the palms from last year's Palm Sunday, the smaller ones are oil stocks, holding blessed oil. Took this photo before the service started.

Day 52- "Pippin!"

Day 52- "Pippin!"

February 21, 052/366 (1513/1827)- Tonight the Westminster Choir of The First Presbyterian Church from Caldwell, NJ, performed their own version of "Pippin" at our church. I honestly wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly impressed. I've been around high school drama productions since I was in high school myself, more than 40 years ago, and I think this may have been the best production of this age kids I have ever seen!

I have a lot more shots to go through, but too late tonight . . .

Day 51- Macro Monday w/ surgical loss!

Day 51- Macro Monday w/ surgical loss!

February 20, 051/366 (1512/1827)- Several years ago one of my students was selling these hand-made string bracelets made by a school in Africa to help raise money for mission work. I bought two of them and have worn them constantly; reminded me of service to others and dedication to helping those less fortunate. During my surgical prep the nurse said they had to come off; there was no way to untie them so they cut them off.

They were starting to fray and rot so their time was short anyway. I didn't think I would even miss them but I really have, I almost feel naked without them. Who would have thought silly little string bracelets would mean so much to me.

When I was serving communion on Sunday I looked down and realized it was the first time I had served without them, left me a very hollow feeling.
