Utah is renown for it's vast number of national parks, from Bryce Canyon to Arch's and Zion National Park. The road trip I took out west brought me to many of these breath taking national parks. No matter how many people I talked to, no one seemed to mention Canyon Lands NP.
Utah reigns as one of the most diverse areas in the United States. Roaring mountains spring up form the land, gorgeous grasslands wave in the wind as far as the eye can see, rivers racing to find the sea. Many of the parks have all of these natural beauties but tend to focus on one. Canyon Lands was blessed with a bounty of all.
The southern entrance takes you through twenty miles of privately owned cattle ranches which funnel through a valley of mountains. Every direction one sees a new figure emerging from the earth. Upon entering the national park, you drive through the plains in awe of the vastness of God's creation all around. Five miles into the park you find a circle marking the beginning of endless hiking trails. A daring person may be brave enough to climb the enormous figures attempting to touch the heavens. If you catch this timeless landscape at sunset, a beauty rarely experienced exposes itself. Radiating rays force themselves through the clouds and around the narrow passes to leave one in awe. Blessed I was, to capture such a moment in the earths glory.
