GROENE MOSKEE AAN ZEE IN DE REGEN // GREEN MOSQUE IN THE RAIN CASABLANCA
This is a very big mosque! I felt lost and very small in this
building.
Work on the mosque was commenced in 1986, and was intended to be
completed for the 60th birthday of the former Moroccan king, Hassan
II, in 1989. This king made the people of Maroc pay for this tribute
to himself....
The building was not inaugurated until 30 August 1993. It did take
2,500 construction workers and 10,000 artists and craftsman to build
the mosque.

Moskee Hassan II in Casablanca in Marokko is een moderne, grote,
moskee gebouwd in opdracht van koning Hassan II, de vorige koning van
Marokko. Zij werd ontworpen door de Franse architect Michel Pinseau en
gebouwd door Bouygues.
Het is de op één na grootste moskee ter wereld, ik voelde mezelf klein
en verdwaald op de wereld in dit gebouw.
De moskee ligt aan de kust en biedt uitzicht over de Atlantische
Oceaan. Een gigantische glazen vloer, die ruimte biedt voor 25.000
bezoekers, biedt uitzicht op het water. Naast de 25.000 mensen die een
plek kunnen vinden binnen is er buiten plaats voor 85.000 biddende
mensen. De minaret is de hoogste minaret met een hoogte van 210 meter.

Wat een mooi gebouw en tja, die regen...is altijd jammer, je gaat zo gauw niet eens terug..:))
