Yellow Trout Lily
Still in the hunt for the ever elusive West Virginia White butterfly, so I spend what ever free time I have in the woods. I finally found one - yeah - but after how many miles? - lol - There are many benefits to the hunt though; I'm out of the office, fresh air, exercise, and I get to see all the wildflowers in bloom. This clump of yellow trout-lily, Erythronium americanum, really stood out from the crowd, so I thought I'd share. See my comment for a just "OK" image of the West Virginia White nectaring on Cut-leaf Toothwort.

Good morning Brian...thanks for your visit. And beautiful wildflowers here...being the first shot. As for the second shot, I'm pretty sure that's a Cabbage White butterfly. Usually the first to emerge in the Midwest in the spring.
Take care...and I hope you have a most pleasant day.

Lovely, rich colors in this beautiful photo.
I used to have a weekend cabin in the woods, and trout lilies grew near the stream. It has been decades since I've seen them.
