I have a tremendous response to this design too. The way he placed the mass of the animal far to the right, the sky and clouds to the left, and then tops it off with Cassandre's type (or so it looks to me).

I understand that Roman Cieslewicz loves to work with circles. Well, the circles look like snow to me, and I have had experiences with driving my beat-up Volkswagon through cattle in the snow at night, and wow, does this design give me the same ominous feeling!

Was this a scan from a design book or do you have the original document?

I think among the design's many values are the fact that--a, he is using an instantly recognizeable icon in the bull (full of various and layered meaning in itself), and, b, he presents to us this familiar visual trope in a new and startling way.

It has that weird resonance between flat and perspectival which works so well in limitied color design...the sky looks to be a collaged element.

As I remember, this was from a book. (Wouldn't it be great to have the original printed magazine!)

I understand that Cieslewicz uses collage in many of his designs, that he does not care to use illustration.
