Federal Reserve Comic Books
Free comic books (including postage) from the Federal Reserve. The Story of Money is the most fun and filled with assumptions that I can't quite put my finger on. The main one is that the division of labor is the obvious and preferred way to organize a society. Whereas being self sufficient is extremely inefficient. The example given is of a person trying to grow bananas in two feet of snow. The humor is supposed to be a cover for these exagerations. The comic also does not reveal that the actual money is worthless, but assumes that the portability and convenience of making change is why money is superior to cattle or gold coins.
The one called "Too Much, Too Little" is also quite interesting in that the characters take a little trip through time to see how politics manipulated the money supply and caused much havoc when too much money caused hyperinflation and when too little caused riots. Thus the justification for the Federal Reserve being created is that it took the money power out of the hands of politicians and into the hands of certain reserve bankers which is supposed to be better. As if those bankers wouldn't have a political agenda also.
