John P Schroeter Rest in Peace

    Newer Older

John P Schroeter, co designer of the Sashimi Tabernacle Choir passed away suddenly this week. I didn't know John well, but in my few encounters with him I found him to be a very sweet and gentle human being full of joy and a lot of fun. His co creation the Sashami Tabernacle Choir artcar, shown here at the 2004 Houston Artcar Ball, is a testament to this fact. It is one of the most fun artcars ever devised. John, I'm sure you are giving God a pie in the face right now. Rest in Peace.

It wasn't at Traders Village last weekend. We'll see if it is in Austin this weekend. I hope it doesn't become inactive.

      Hi Paul
I still miss this car and think it is my all time favorite (of all the Art Cars I have seen) Our Art Car parade is July 21st...I can't wait to see who will be in it this year.

I was trying to figure out a way to make it to MN, but it's not gonna happen.

I just wandered over here via Addadada's pics of the Sashimi Tabernacle car. Very sad about Mr. Schroeder's passing, but his wonderful car is still making the rounds and delighting people. It's really something!

I didn't know John Schroeter well, but he was very loved by the artcar community and the Sashimi Tabernacle Choir is a great piece of fun art. And it will live on because John didn't work alone. He had the help of many people. Richard Carter is the man who actually came up with the idea for Sashimi and was very instrumental in it's construction. I hope that Richard and the rest of the Team Sashimi keep this beautiful car in the public eye for many years to come.
