studio assignment #7 : black on black
model: emmy beltre

so the assignment is the opposite of the previous "white on white" assignment. the idea was to shoot something that would photograph pretty dark and be able to separate it with highlight from a black background. i used a ring flash from the side and a snoot on behind and to the right of the subject to bring out the his hair and shoulder.

the model, my friend emmy, was up from southern on his spring break and we had a good time in the studio on friday afternoon. always good times with him. thanks for the patience emmy!

studio assignment #5: white on white

the idea behind this was to play a trick on your eyes, but mainly to convey the idea of controling the puppet we can all be sometimes. i'm really not particularly happy with this shot. it's something i think has a lot of potential, but i want to do it again with better quality.

hopefully you can see that the monkey is actually stenciled on to him with spraypaint, and hopefully you can't tell that the strings were made digitally (that's what i'd like to improve on the second go).
