Amboseli at 21 years old, one of the oldest female lions in captivity!
She came to live at Potter Park Zoo as cub in 1989. During the winter months she is often lounging outside on giant heated rocks. Lovingly known as "grumpy girl", Amboseli seems to enjoy unnerving visitors by looking them directly in the eye.
I watched amazed as she went right down the row of my group and looked
every one of us in the eye for 2-3 seconds before moving directly to
the next person. I was the first in line and did snap a shot (posted
jan 15th) before she moved on. This shot shows her looking at the last
person in our group of 6.
Look at the 1/15/11 post and then this one and just try to tell me she
was not fully aware of what she was doing!
DID YOU KNOW: African Lions are endangered and the population is decline at a rate so fast that there is over a 10% probability of species extinction in a little as 20 years?
