The lady in red: wow! (next time go easy on the colours, only the red dress should be hurting your eyes).

I like it even though I'm not an artsy photographer and don't know that much about seeing into a photo like this but I do notice the red and how brilliant it is. The pedestrians in the back add to the life of the photo, the leg showing is a plus and the cigarette tells a story.

Wonderful crop! Love the pose and the super real colours. Buyt especially the pose. And the crop? Did I mention the crop?

  26. solodad300 (83 months ago | reply)

As much as I love the sense of refined elegance and lines in her posture and hands, and I do, it is the contrast with the little man and his fashion that puts this into another category.

I can see a few TINY things that bug me about this like the digital artifacts around the end of the cigarette and there is a slight grainyness to this image - but I guess I am liking that more than not Overall - I think it's very unique - the colours are awesome and I like the crop.

Great red dress! If you had straightened this out and cropped off the extra body parts on the left it would be a save for me.

I like the idea, but still needs some work imo. I would like if the cigarette stood out more and if there was not funky photoshoppery around it.

i like the uncropped version, and having already seen it and faved it, i feel very weird looking at this, because here you emphasize on the leg and the hand, which is more like a cliche... in the uncropped shot the woman's head is turned to the right, there is that wind behind her and that man that comes from the background suddenly becomes and addition to some kind of statement.

i don't see that here. you killed your image.

@Solodad300: Ok. It may not be photoshop, but there is a funkiness there nonetheless.

  37. Mat. (83 months ago | reply)

cliched, poorly processed and a bit dull

  38. Tsjeu (83 months ago | reply)

    Cliché, from concept to colour.

  39. solodad300 (83 months ago | reply)

Red is now a cliched color. Damn, I need to remember that.
To make it easier on me can anyone point me to a list of the approved non-cliche colors. I'm lost without it. Are women primarily wearing aqua-green lipstick or something? Is red the new brown? So many questions...

  40. Tsjeu (83 months ago | reply)

bad news solodad: it's not just the red , it's the buena vista social club cuban processing, and the hand with the cigarette, the lamppost, the zebra, and the red dress: a computer could generate this image if you eneterd a few key words. ;)

  41. moxyminx (83 months ago | reply)

Great color and saturation. Is this E-6 cross processing? I've always loved the effect of cross processing.

  42. solodad300 (83 months ago | reply)

I'm just tired of cliched answers. I really don't care if you like the shot or not but when you start stating that certain colors are cliche...I wanna know more.
Oh, and by the way, since you made the claim, could you please show me an example of a computer generating what you stated. I'm the curious type and that kind of search or program would be very interesting to learn more about.

  43. Tsjeu (83 months ago | reply)

Since you insist on limiting my remark about the colours to the red dress, I'll show you this:
    -- from Paula Wirth - (?)
hoping that that I will not have to spell everything out to you. (probably you''ll insist on that anyway because chances are you're just trying to be a pain in the ass.)

My comment was not a cliché at all. The combination of elements in this image, all the way down to the processing and the cigarette etc. is something the collective copywrtiting commercial mind comes up with every five minutes, because it thinks that's what people like you want. That's the computer you want, no need to go and write the software.

  44. alphadesigner (83 months ago | reply)

Tsjeu, do you read cheap pulp fiction?

  45. Tsjeu (83 months ago | reply)

No, but my wife collects them for the covers.

  46. solodad300 (83 months ago | reply)

    Tsjeu
Perhaps it's time that you tell your wife to throw away all those little red dresses and underthings and lipstick and maybe all the black ones too because, despite our predispositions, you are immune to them and deem them cliche. "Yo bitch, you haulin' out that red (or black) shit again! Damn, can you buy a clue?"
You claimed I was picking on just the color in your remark yet you showed a picture unsimilar to the one being judged sheerly because it had a red dress in it. Maybe I was wrong originally...are you saying pictures that include red DRESSES are cliche?

  47. alphadesigner (83 months ago | reply)

collects them for the covers? haha. everybody says so.

  48. solodad300 (83 months ago | reply)

    NeverB4
Not even that ...not him but HIS WIFE only reads them "for the covers".
    Tsjeu
Just bustin' yer balls dude. I like the photgrapher's work and I like this shot and you initially started with some jive crap so I wanted to mess with you for it. "By gones" and all that.
