Today was one of those days where you discover something new and exciting. Something that no matter how old you are you still sit there and stare in awe. Sand Mountain is a vast wasteland of blowing sand and rolling dunes. I didn't feel like I was in the United states but rather the Sahara desert! The wind was blowing at a steady 25mph with gusts up to 35mph. the wind was so strong that moments after you made a track or a print it would erase any evidence that you were there. Getting lost would surly result in a very dire situation. There was times during the 4 wheel adventure that I'd be traveling straight up a dune some 200 feet. I would momentarily lose my barring as every thing looked the same. During a few runs I reached a speedy 70mph down the dunes.
After we 4 wheeled ourselves out we headed out to grab the shot for today. I wanted to get a shot of a desert and a person in the hoarse environment. Its ironic that the shot I used today was the test shot. I had several shots of me acting like a fool, eating the sand that the wind would blow in my mouth. Despite the warm look of the photo, it was pretty cold. Hence, the sweater, hat and scarf around Joyce! I on the other hand had nothing but a T-shirt on!
More coming on my blog tomorrow. I'm now posting blogs one day later due to the strain of traveling.
