I found these in a box today while searching for something entirely different.
Ever find something and all these tucked away memories come rushing forth?
Well, that was me.

From High School till after college and right up until Jerry Garcia's death I ventured to unknown cities to hear the music play. But it was more than that. And anyone who has toured will tell you. Its about community and congregation. It was exploration and experience. It was so much more than i can put into words.

In total, I was blessed to have seen Jerry tickle his strings 113 times. 89 times with the Grateful Dead and 24 times with the Jerry Garcia Band.

The last show I saw was during summer tour, 1995. June 30th, 3 Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA. Rusted Root opened up. We drove all night to get there from Rhode Island.

I left that show saying it was one of my favorite most spiritual experiences at a show. little did i know it was my last. it was the night the heavens opened up, it rained like mad and the band played on to do a special rain edition 2nd set.

That night the earth and the people were all in sync.
it was beautiful to witness.

I dont listen to the grateful dead as much anymore, but i am eternally grateful for the impact it had on my life.
