Mount by San Luis Reservoir 2

I converted this one into B&W because the dark cloud, while makes the scene extra vibrant, doesn't work too well with light cloud and blue sky in between. The combination actually looks quite bad.... But in B&W, it looks dramatic! :-D

The dramatic dark and heavy rain cloud actually made the color of the mountain very saturated and beautiful. Ironically, I converted this into black and white. The awe of the color and lighting was unable to be captured on photo for some reason. After I did some post processing, I think my white balance was not done correctly, resulting in perceived exposure error. But black and white always works. :-) The good lighting makes this photo extra sharp. Based on Lightroom's B&W preset.

EDIT: Forgot to mention about the detail about this shot. The lighting was very special. Dark cloud is apparently in the background of this shot. However, sun light was coming from behind me at about 45 degree to my left shoulder, so it was the perfect lighting condition. This is how this photo is sharp like an Ansel Adams print.

Winding Paths Seen from Dinosaur Point 2a

Winding Paths Seen from Dinosaur Point 2a

This shot has a different angle than the version 1 and the light spot was on that mount, which makes it look a little like a pyramid. The road on the far side is Pacheco Pass Highway (CA-152). This is a 3x2 crop.

It's a spot somewhere down below from where I stood. I found the shape fascinating. I shot several shots of it, and since the cloud was moving, so they all have different lighting, which make them look somewhat different from one another. This one the light was spotted on the paths, and the telephone pole (or power line, whatever that is) is made more obvious. I used Kodachrome preset on this.

Windmills at Dinosaur Point

Windmills at Dinosaur Point

These wind power turbines were running that day and it was a very windy day. I don't think I used Hoya Moose's filter on this one.... And by the time I remembered it, the cloud moved. So what I did instead to compensate for the lack of polarizing for the cloud was to use... graduated filter in Lightroom....
