a pageant in the evening by :lynn:

a pageant in the evening

Norfolk is many things to me, but it is, above all, my best friend. Then it is coast, and tides, and shingle beaches, and boats. And then it is hedgerows and hilly fields and wildflowers and seaviews. And then...

We were surprised by Morston Quay, and we were glad of the detour.

It was wonderful, last weekend. It was golden, as times with true friends tend to be.

time. and a tractor. by :lynn:

time. and a tractor.

“What is man's ultimate direction in life? It is to look for love, truth, virtue, and beauty”

-Shinichi Suzuki (Japanese violinist and teacher who introduced millions of children to his "Suzuki Method", 1898-1998)

What more could I possibly say?

Well, I suppose, this: I have mentioned it before, but Happisburgh - as you can see in this polaroid - is slipping into the sea. Please visit the website and sign the petition calling for better coastal defenses. Thank you!

a peek behind the curtain by :lynn:

a peek behind the curtain

The first roll from this camera let me down sadly - it was grainy, and green-cast - so I gave it, quickly, another try. I shot just about-the-house stuff, 100ASA this time, to get an idea of the close-focus possibilities, and an indication of light rendition and DOF...and this time I was very pleased indeed. They are simple images, but they tell me what I needed to know.

I was very pleased, too, to see that the book that we (two lovely ladies and I) have been working on for ages has been printed and will be on shelves within the week. It was a demanding project but an inspiring and rewarding project, too.

And I honestly never realised that ones name on a cover could be such a thrill.:-)

from a hot tin roof by :lynn:

from a hot tin roof

My little boots will be walking again on Friday, but not too far afield (Cambridgeshire and Norfolk) and not for too long (my best friend's birthday weekend).
I am puzzling, as usual, about which camera to take. I thought to pack the most recent Mamiya, but its test roll was all odd and grainy and green-cast, and although I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the film (despite the fact that it was in date! For once!) or the processing, I am loathe to take chances.
I imagine the Great Wall will end up accompanying me. It usually does...and does well.
