This is the first quilt I've ever made! Machine pieced and hand quilted. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the quilting. I used my most favorite (and sometimes very last piece of) thrifted and vintage fabric scraps so I could always look at them somewhere in my house. :-) My mom suggested the patchwork binding (independently of i heart linen's fabulous example). I love it!

I made two baby sized quilts for my twin niece/nephew, and am in the process of making a queen sized one for me. It's taking many years to collect the fabrics, but I have finally begun sewing them.
I do it the same way, machine piece and hand quilt.
I love the vintage fabrics, great way to use them up!

Surfinsandy-- Yes! I snuck in a few repro prints that I love. I admire your perseverance! I am too anxious to get on to the next project to be able to do such a large quilt!

Thank you "letterwoman"! I got the pattern from a link off of the Sew Mama Sew blog during their "Quilt Month" a year ago February. I'm sure if you do a search on their site for "whirlygig" it'll come up. It's fun to make!

I like your little quilt a lot! Nice job! I used a charm pack of 1930's fabrics mixed with white.
