The Capital Whistler - Spitfire Railtours
Class 40 40145 waits at Preston station with the1Z55 Preston to Kings
Cross "Capital Whistler" The tour went across to Manchester
Victoria, Huddersfield and Leeds before joing the East Coast Mainline
and down to London Kings Cross. The tour was orginally booked to be
run by 55022 "Royal Scots Grey" but the change of loco was
very welcome for some of the travellers.
The class 40 was a common sight at Preston during the 1980's.
