Here are the guys doing what they do best. As I wrote under the previous photo of the ladies, after spending close to a week together on the same bus, same hotels, same everything, we got to know each other quite well and developed a good camaraderie. This photo is of the men in the group taken in one of our rooms at the Jianguo Hotel in Xi'an on the last evening of the excursion. The next morning Kathleen and I flew to Guangzhou and then took the train to Hong Kong where we spent a few days. But before I continue with that part of the trip, I will go through the 1994 excursion that took us from Chenzhou to Guilin.
By the way, 16th IGES stands for 16th International Geochemical Exploration Symposium which is the name of the conference that I attended in China in 1993. All of us in these two group photos were taking part in that event. (BTW, I'm the one with the blue pants sitting in the middle. To protect their privacy, I will not give out the names of the others.)
