Large Borate Bomber 03
Large borate bomber dropping its load along the ridge line of one of Utah's many summer wild fires. This one is on a small range of foot hills in front of Wasatch Mountain near Provo and Orem. This fire came dangerously close to a number of homes and a few cell tower sites. Happily fire crews aided by helicopters and boarte bombers managed to keep the fire from doing damage to structures.
The borate is a fire retardant which is designed to stop fire form spredding to unburned areas. It is red so that it is easy to see from the air and on the ground where it has been dropped.
