I don't know... it doesn't make sense to
me... then again it's a Friday and I'm
already looking forward to that 4 day
weekend!
Well... here is what is confusing the
story... "Resolved" - meaning
complete, done whatever... and if that looks
like a check list, nothing is checked off..
But it also looks like it was the previous
year's resolutions that never did happen and
that person, instead of writing new
resolutions, is just using the same card -
scratched the year out and wrote 2008..
see... that and the word "resolved"
are confusing... i'm not sure what the
message is supposed to be, but you might have
to work on making it clearer.
Maybe the dual definition of
"resolved" is the issue. It's not
resolved like complete, it's
"resolved" like it's something I'm
resolved to do, much like Jonathan Edwards'
resolutions: www.apuritansmind.com/ChristianWalk/Resolutio
nsOfJonathan... even though the series isn't about Jonathan
Edwards, I'm just using him as an example.
The idea I was going for is that this year
will be different than the last. Maybe that
didn't come across that well though. : )
Resolved is the title of the series, so how
could I change it to look better and keep
that as the focus?
I wonder if it would make more sense to have
the resolutions scratched out and reworded,
such as "To lose weight" scratched
out and replaced by "Run 1/2 mile
everyday".
That would play off the most important (my
opinion) meaning of resolved - "to re -
solve", that is, "to come up with a
better solution". Include the scratched
out 2007. It shows that you are resolute -
not giving up - even if you didn't get it
done last year.
I think this is a great design. I would only
change one thing, but I'm not sure if it can
be changed. The whole design looks a little
flat and, well, designed.
What if you made this list in real life, then
took some photos of it. Then it would
translate into real life a little better.
Right now, you can tell someone fired up
photoshop and put this thing together. A
photo of a real list would create a little
more organic and relatable graphic....I
think.

i would put the "new year's resolution" text up in the top, and get rid of resolved all together. then put the actual resolutions down on the yellow.

Thanks for your comments, Conrad and Lava.

What if you add the word: TO
Resolved to:
the list.....

Good idea, Daniel, I'll see what I can do with it.
