Hidden-world
This was taken in Tunisia near the village of Matmata, this village
was used in the original Star Wars move.
It is an extremely hot and dry area where the locals, “Berbers”
traditionally live underground. Although today most people live
aboveground.
The underground houses are started by first digging out what will become the central courtyard on the side of a hill. Then an entrance tunnel is dug through to the courtyard from lower down the hill, other room are then dug out around the courtyard as required.
The photograph is of the entrance looking into the courtyard towards the owners and the hand print afar as I’m aware is left by the builder/family as a signature.
