Day 4: Ash Wednesday

Day 4: Ash Wednesday

My birthday has always been near* Ash Wednesday, given the time of year. I think that both occasions include a level of reflection and thinking about the future. In my mind, I'm still riding the coattails of a new year, so every year around this time, I think about goals I want to set and vices I want to remove. Nothing too fancy has popped up this year, but there are several ways that I want to live a better life. Here's hoping they work!

I am Catholic.

Day 3: So much madness in one little thing...

Day 3: So much madness in one little thing...

Part of me wants to just not type a description... messed that one up already, huh.

Anyway, you may know of Peter Jackson Games, which made the nerd world of Munchkin games (including all the variants with ninjas, aliens, secret agents, superheroes, etc). Well, the same company also makes other games including Cthulhu Dice. All you need is a D-12 and 18 Sanity beads, also the instructions as nice to have. Basically, you want to be the last sane player by casting spells (rolling the die) at other people. Cthulhu makes everyone insane... and he comes in the night!!!!

I am still a nerd and a goofball.

Day 2: Crunching the Numbers

Day 2: Crunching the Numbers

So, since it's been a while since I last did stuff on Flickr, I know that there are things that have changed about me. One new thing is that I started grad school, specifically working on a Masters in Math Ed. At this point, I'm looking to be a high school math teacher, but we'll just have to see what happens. I'm only taking two classes each semester, so this semester's work is Adolescent Psychology and Advanced Calculus. Take a guess as to which one I'm working on now. :-P

I am still a math student... somewhat.

Day 1: Hello, world! Third Time's the Charm!

Day 1: Hello, world! Third Time's the Charm!

Hello, world!... yet again! It's been a while, hasn't it... yeah, my last 365Days project didn't go as well as planned. Fortunately, I did take the pictures and I still have the pictures on my computer. Unfortunately, I really fell behind with getting the pictures uploaded and after a while, I lost motivation for taking the pictures. Oh, I still took pictures, but they turned into a drone of horribly similar shots in my apartment minutes before bed. What I think I might do is to condense them in one shot representing each month (or at least a longer stretcher of time) and post those just to say that they are online.

Moving on... I really liked the idea of the 365Days Project since it lets you explore photography as well as chronicle a year. It's also is a good activity in goal setting since the project will fail if you aren't consistent about doing a little something every day. With all of those reasons in mind, I wanted to start up year 3.

Goals for Year 3:
-put up every daily photo within 3 days of that day
-get out of my apartment to get students/friends involved
-miss 5 or fewer days

It's gotten habit to start out each 365Days Project with an appropriate number (like Year 1 and Year 2) although I forgot to include a "Floor 1" sign apparently.

Well, for better or worse--oh, right! Why today? Well, yesterday was my birthday, so this 365Days Project is my photo journal of me being 25.

I am ready to start this madness all over again.

Day 50: Hanging out with the City Gorilla Crew (pun intended)

Day 50: Hanging out with the City Gorilla Crew (pun intended)

So today was Day 50, and what a day it was! I met up with a group of high school friends (including my three best friends pictured here and embarked on City Gorilla. Chris (third from the left) dressed up in a gorilla suit and went around town while we all took pictures. We didn't think other people would play along as well as they did. Random strangers were jumping around and making noises like a gorilla. Plus, there were so many people who were taking pictures with their cell phones or as their car whizzed by on the road. The kids got a big kick out of it too. So, it was definitely an out-of-the-ordinary day.

After the gorilla escapades (I really like that word, btw), we came back to Newfypup's house for a cookout on the lake shore. We also ended up watching Shrek 2 and talking about many different things. It was a good time.

Flickr-related note: Today marks 50 different locations for 365 shots! Hooray! I'm glad I kept it going past a month because it got my mind going about different shots. It'll be nice to have more time to invest into a shot, but even just walking around town late at night got my mind going (partly about how to make a shot work and partly about how I really want an actual tripod). I'll be repeating locations but I'm going to stick with my year-long goal to not repeat a location two days in a row. Here's to another 315 days!
