Red-bellied Woodpecker

Red-bellied Woodpecker

I saw this beautiful red-bellied male woodpecker on one of our palm trees one early morning. We are blessed to have so many wonderful species of birds around. I have such a passion for wildlife and nature. It is so much fun to observe their habits and learn their unique calls. It always astonishes me still when I hear one pecking loudly on a neighbors' tin roof! Luckily, we have not had that happen to us yet, but I see them walking around and round our palm trees pecking with their sharp bills. It has to be such a loud sound and rather startling at first, until realizing it's a woodpecker making the sound. Haha!

Sunny Autumn Days...

Sunny Autumn Days...

I thought this Snowy Egret looked so lovely standing on the branch surrounded by the blue water. I liked the pink bougainvillea flowers floating in the water and thought it made this beautiful white bird stand out so well.
This time of year so many different species of birds are flying back down south, and it's such a feast for the eyes. I feel so grateful to witness such amazing wildlife and nature.

Nothing but blue skies...

Nothing but blue skies...

We have been having a lot of rain but today there is only crip air and clear blue skies. I captured this beautiful bald eagle flying by heading toward the bay. I am always grateful and feel inspired when I see such a wondrous sight. It's going to be a lovely Fall weekend and I am looking forward to go out to shoot more awesome nature!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to increase awareness of the most common cancer among women and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in the United States. In 2007, the most recent year for which data are available, 202,964 women received a diagnosis of breast cancer, and 40,598 women died from the disease.

Mammography can detect breast cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage, up to 3 years before lumps can be detected during breast self-examination or clinical examination. For 21 years, CDC's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program has helped low-income, uninsured, and underserved women gain access to breast and cervical cancer screening and follow-up services. The program has assisted approximately 3.9 million women, provided approximately 9.8 million screening examinations, and diagnosed
nearly 53,000 cases of breast cancer. Additional information about CDC activities that promote early
detection and treatment of breast cancer is available at www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast.

I know we all have been touched by this disease in some way, whether its been a family member, friend or acquaintance. It's always good to be reminded to do a self-exam, once a month and keeping our friend's aware. I hope and pray for all those suffering from this disease or whom have been touched by it in their lives. I pray for a future free from this type of Cancer and all Cancers and diseases.

Nudgie the boxer

Nudgie the boxer

Nudgie has grown into a sweet and loving young man. He has such a wonderful personality filled with intelligence and devotion. Nudgie loves agility, spinning and swimming. His expression has true boxer character and he delights us with his antics. He enjoys playing together with his brother SonKist and it
makes us so happy to watch them wrestle (box with their paws) in the pool. He knows I love to photograph him a lot which makes me so happy and I know he feels my energy and plays off of it! Hehe!
