• Omars Restaurant.

Where I spent five years as a bouncer and bartender for one of the greatest restaurants/bars in town.

If you ever make a trip to Ashland you MUST visit Omars for an amazing meal. If you are a hole-in-the-wall drinker... this bar can't be beat!
  • Greensprings C

I was an RA here from 1994-1995. It was a greuling but GREAT year. Thanks to Mark (the awesome-boss and friend), Craig, Karen and the rest of y'all for being such outstanding friends.

Wow... we must have spent HUNDREDS at Omars that year!

    (Don't tell Mom & Dad)
  • Greensprings B.

I was an RA here from 1992-1993. It was a horrible year with a horrible boss. I learned more about myself in these 9 months than I ever imagined.
  • I was the HD of Cedar hall for a brief two terms. Our housing office was going through some severe changes and it was a painful existance from 2003-2004. What should have been a stellar job set me back...

I quickly fled the residential-life system after what was beginning to be awful-boss part 2.
  • Hawthorne Hall.

I spent two AMAZING years in Hawthorne starting my freshman year in 1990. I met some of my best friends like Aaron, Stephanie, Tori, Jeremy and my beautiful and wonderful wife Bonnie here. I often think of my old friends from Hawthorne that I haven't seen in years.
  • Giseppis Pizza.

Geez what a dump. I promised myself I would never work food-prep because I knew it would be awful... and it was. The owner of this place was far from functional and I couldn't wait to get the hell out! Free pizza was nice but how they passed their health inspections I'll never kno
  • Walker Avenue Apts.

I live with my ex, Stacy, here for a few years. I have to say I really miss my roomie John and my neighbor Elizabeth. I couln't have asked for better support after my breakup with Stacy.

    Good times!

I wonder if John still homebrews?
  • Keely... Greensprings director.

It was surreal dating Keely when she was complex director (or whatever the title was) of Greensprings. After working in Greensprings during two of my most formative years, spending time with her in my former awful-bosses apartment was liberating!
  • Morning Glory Restaurant.

This was our morning-after stomping ground for many years. The best breakfasts I've ever had in my life were at Morning Glory! I will never forget the good times we had with good friends.
  • Siskiyou Hall.

I worked as res-hall security in 1990 and 91. Late nights wandering the empty campus with a flashlight and cellphone. I get tired just thinking about it.
  • My old Karmann Ghia.

My VW finally died on the hill behind Suzanne Homes. I loved that car but its time had come. I also outgrew it after growing a few inches after High School. It was a tiny little thing.
  • Suzanne Homes.

I'll spare you the details... this was a bulding full of life-changing coming-of-age events and ex-girlfriends. It was the "crazy hall" full of thespians and drama-queens. An eclectic group to say the least.
  • 7-11

After a night at Omars there aren't many options. Pinball and greasy-food until the wee hours of the morning.
  • Leo's campus burger.

I'll never forget seeing Sara here with her arm in a cast and her foot in a bucket of ice-water cooking burgers. Whatever Leo's secret sacue was... I miss it! Yummy shakes and fries!

    It's a Starbucks now!
  • Stacy, Katie and Seana's apartment.

At least I THINK that is what this is?
  • A strip-mall built around 2001 that, to this day, has only one business in it.

    Throwing money in a hole...
  • Allan Brothers Coffee... fun open mic nights!
  • A big ugly gravel parking lot. The majority of the view from the Greensprings dorms.

    C'mon SOU... get it together!

Either pave this eye-sore or turn it into lawn. But creating a dust bowl every summer and a muddy slab every winter... yuck!
  • The new fine art complex that was built well after I left the University. I wish it had been in existance several years previous!
  • Mihama's.

Everyone I know LOVED this faux-japanese restaurant... except me... I'll never understand it!
  • Mountain Biking.

Head south for a few miles and you hit some of the best single-track in the world. I left a lot of flesh-and-blood behind on the trails above Ashland... I miss it EVERY day.
  • I spent a great three years at the "Siskyou" house with some crazy room mates up near the corner of Siskyou and Tollman Creek Rd. We really had it good with Jesse and Laurie and Bonnie living out there by the pond for $750 a month. I also never imagined we'd continue to be such good friends!
  • Timbers Motel

Where we stay when heading down to CA to visit family. It's surprisingly cheap for Ashland and within walking distance of Omar's and PC Market and a handful of other businesses. No frills... gets the job done.
  • Great American Pizza

    Yum!

1990 - 2001

In the neighborhood of Omars Restaurant in Ashland Oregon on the SOU campus. I applied at omars to be a dish washer for a few months, ended up as a bouncer and bartender for five years. A wonderful place to work full of amazing people and outrageous events. Five years were lost... down the tubes... and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
