Hey, YOU can't stop US SHARING the WORLD

WE are all here filterred, we are bloked since we show you the REAL IRAN, just for telling you that WE EXIST, is it a great sin?, it seems it is so, WE love to SHARE the WORLD, and WE DO so, but it's a GREAT SIN, what about GLOBAL ISOLATION, seems it's the most favourited tendency HERE.

The sin is not in your sharing with the world, it is in governments who are so insecure and untrusting that they will not allow people to live their lives and express themselves openly.

I pray that freedom will come soon for you all.

Dear Mr.HORIZON and all other friends, look at the sad irony of our world. Everyday it is becoming more difficult for us “The PEOPLE” to access information freely and impartially. Worldwide the dominance of media giants threatens “democracy” to the benefit of a few powerful groups. Locally we Iranians face even more restrictions, but the restriction of impartial information is not only within Iran. It is an astonishingly increasing risk all over the world.

In this situation the responsibilities of people like you Mr. HORIZON increases even more. Elites and intellectuals across the world should do their best to raise the social awareness of people, to help them better search, find and analyze information, free of biases and mindsets.

As the great contemporary Iranian poet “Forough Farokhzad” says: ”It is only voice that remains”, let us be together united and strong to be a louder voice. A voice to be heard, a voice to be remembered.

I too am an Iranian living in Europe. Everyday i hear and feel the contrasts arousing from media dis-information, or lack thereof. But where is the difference between distorted info and censorship?
Don't feel like you're confined in a pre-stone age country. I still come to Iran and everytime, of course, I can't help noticing all those differences compared to western countries; but unlike many fellow iranians, i hope that all the efforts won't bring the society towards a unique and western-oriented lifestyle. Not because one is "better than the other", they're just different. Iran has millenniums of history to preserve, it is still struggling for interior balance after almost a century of foreign economic dependancy, war, revolution. It's a hard time to live and the next future will probably carry even more tensions.

But one thing dont you ever forget: Dont expect changes to come from higher positions. It never works. Plus, when you live in a widely "cross-haired" country, even every legitimate complain becomes a support for those who know little or nothing about you and in the end finish just adding more fuel to the fire. The fire of the regime change de-stabilizers. In such hot situations, the burden is always carried by poor and innocent people.

Get people together. Love your country for what it is and has been, know your history, get discussions aflame but keep the people together. Dont divide. There is a huge variety of information flows. No one can actually stop you. Dont fall into any mental trap.

Show the beautiful sides of Iran. Tell the plain truth, through images, comments, reports. Cant reach flickr? Find another site. Quit bitching. Together you're strong. Dont let anyone divide you. Just act, proudly and non-violently, in however a small way.

Allow me to quote an inspiring quote by historian Howard Zinn, who in his "Optimism of Uncertainty" writes:

"An optimist isn't necessarily a blithe, slightly sappy whistler in the dark of our time. To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places--and there are so many--where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don't have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory."

Love her expression, it just touches you somewhere.

And I agree with flaming.shoe. There is more to Iran than just those that make the headlines.

    29. Caren Hauser (70 months ago | reply)

hope to see more of your pictures in the future!!

there are some people (from both sides) who want to have a gap between the western world and the iranian world (or the arab world). They use it for their (economical and political) interests. But this doesn t work as long as the people keep on sharing their worlds. This is why sharing the world is so "dangerous" for these kind of people.

I hope for our sake you find a back door to flickr, maybe a friend outside Iran who could post for you. I've just found your stream via Utata, and I'd like to see more.

A strong government does not need to isolate its population and censor their expression.

    35. ipernity.com/home/nicoleb / No to censorship [deleted] (70 months ago | reply)

      I can't believe this.

They are more stupid over there than I thought.

They don't even realize that it is people like you guys that show the world the real Iran.
That make people think twice before they talk shit about it in general.

This is way sad, makes me angry and just fits in my main mood of the day.

I'm really sorry to hear this and hope, you can soon show the world again, what a beautiful world you have over there.

Since you don't know other cultures you think they are very different, as soon as making link with others you will find yourself closer with them, because all of us are human being. this is just Politicians who make hatred among nations. These days I'm just saying with myself "what is the difference between 2000 years ago and now " just killing, already by sabre and now bombs. I'm sorry, but A Great F**k to all politicians.

I believe that in every nation, everywhere in the world, it is in the nature of people to seek connections with each other, and to seek peace and stability. Our governments do not reflect that, as it is the nature of the powerful to seek greater power. They victimize all of us in the process. Must it be this way, or can we make our governments truly represent us and fulfill our need for peaceful coexistence? Horizon, thank you for SHARING the beauty of your WORLD with us.
