North Beacon Hill Small Businesses
I walk by these businesses almost every day so I thought I should get some photos of them so I took my dog for a walk down Beacon Ave this morning and shot some photos. Not everyone is included, there may have been a truck parked in front of your business or something. But I thought that this would be a nice sampler of where we are right now. I worry about some of these businesses and I hope we can figure out a way to take them with us in our changing neighborhood. I started a Yelp list of good things on Beacon Hill, I will add more soon. www.yelp.com/list/good-stuff-on-beacon-hill-seattle

I think I'll put this one in the blog, but I'm trying to figure out a post to go with it. I suppose it could just stand alone, though. Any thoughts?

I sent it over to Robert also, hoping it would be good to use for something for the Beacon Merchants (or whatever they are calling it these days). I'm sure there will be some business related news soon?
Were you at the arts meeting last night?

I stopped in right at 6:30 on my way to Red Apple. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay for the meeting -- family stuff has been messing with my schedule lately. I hope someone who was there will fill us in on what happened. Even if not for the blog, I have a personal interest, so I wanted to be there.
I keep thinking I would like to set up an art exhibit somewhere up here, just a temporary show of some sort, but not sure where. I am half-tempted to put a mini-gallery on my (enclosed) porch. ;)

Let me know when your gallery opens, I think you should put it in that big empty pink building.

There was a story a while back in the Beacon Hill Blog about an art/performance space that got blocked from opening. Something to do with a single resident in that neighborhood [where the art/performance space is] who didn't want it opened, challenged the permit, etc.
Whatever happened to that space? Sounded beautiful and perfect for Beacon Hill; a place we would frequent.

Chulaboy, I'm not sure but the last I heard it was being foreclosed on.

From an outsiders perspective this seems like a really effective way to show the diversity and vitality of a living neighborhood, one in transition. it is a map, in a way, showing the different cultures and communities living side by side and coming together. I think this would be a great thing to put in an art show context... you could do one of these collages for a whole bunch of neighborhoods, and then tour the show around town. Nice work!
