Thanksgiving Chapel- Dallas

This picture was popular in 3D on Flickr, so here is the 2D version- quite a bit larger so you can see more detail.

Thanksgiving Square in Downtown Dallas isn't all that notable, if it weren't for this spiral chapel in the middle. From the outside, it's striking against an all-glass background. From the inside, it's beautiful, at least if you look upwards. Some details:

    The Glory Window
The Glory Window, which forms the 60-foot-high ceiling of the Chapel of Thanksgiving, is one of the largest horizontally mounted stained-glass pieces in the world. Designed by French artist Gabriel Loire, the window symbolizes the blessing of the Divine descending to earth as well as the ascent of human praise and gratitude to God.

    And on the structure itself:

    Chapel of Thanksgiving
The curving shell of white marble aggregate symbolizes the ancient "spiral of life." This shape suggests the infinite upward reach of the human spirit. The Chapel of Thanksgiving is used daily for quiet prayer and reflection. Interfaith thanksgiving services are held here, as well as worship services celebrating festive days within specific religious traditions. The Chapel seats about 80 people comfortably and is acoustically ideal for choirs and musical performances.

This can be glimpsed in Terrence Malick's new film "The Tree of Life" as well. Can't wait to see it acknowledged on the big screen in what looks like to be a truly haunting rumination on the tensions between nature and grace. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLPe0fHuZsc
