DPS Assignment: Fruit
It may just look like a picnic in the park, but oh no, this was a picnic in the park planned with military precision. It started with a long walk along Gran Via in Madrid looking for clothes that had fruit on. Not as easy as I originally thought it might be. We started to try and convince ourselves that all sorts of swishes and swirl patterns 'looked' like fruit, but we were fooling ourselves, so on we went. And then, we saw them there, hanging on the sale rack in Lefties - two matching vest tops WITH FRUIT ON!!! They had to be ours. We couldn't quite agree on what fruit it is (Anna reckons a tomato, I've got my money on oranges) but whatever type - it is definitely fruit. The next task was to find bright matching bowls to co-ordinate with our new purchases - we also brought matching lemon squeezes but they didn't make it into the shot. Then onto the co-ordinated coloured fruit - here I got a little carried away and bought 2 big bags worth of lovely shiny fruit of the green orange or yellow variety. All that was left to do was dress up in matching clothes (skirts and shoes were also co-ordinated) and walk through the streets of Madrid turning heads in our twin-like attire, on our way to the park. And there we spent several happy hours shooting everything you can humanly do with a fruit, and trying to go all Martin Parr with the lighting. These are my three favourite shots and this has been the most enjoyable assignment so far!!!
