Love Your Enemies Poster
Jesus said to pray for those who persecute you, but do we really do that? This series is meant to point to our most extreme enemies, and what our biblical response should be.
We created these 3 posters at 11x17 to be placed in the sanctuary and community. We can't wait to see what reaction they get, and how that can be pointed to Christ Grace.

Love the concept. The follow through is interesting. Cool visuals too -- a way of using some of the images directly in a way that makes it more than looking at pictures.
First reaction: be prepared to floor some tough questions and responses. But I'm sure you are already anticipating that.
Second reaction: the left and right, for me, are viewed in the context of the middle message. The middle poster has a strong message, but I think the others are a bit weaker, with only the scriptural reference. Maybe switch out Matthew 5:44 with Love Your Enemies? Or both? Some way to draw that verbage into the other two would make it for me. You just don't want to put up posters of Hitler without a clear message, right? :)

On the posters when you look at them printed Hitlers mustache is the words love your enemy, And Osama's turbine is the entire scripture.
I'm making a set of higher res art now.

I'm not sure people will notice these, there so tame.
Wow! Talk about making a statement, well done there. It certainly makes you wrestle with it...certainly bound to get some people talking, others angry, and certainly a whole bunch uncomfortable.
Well done!

I look at these and say ... um, I guess ... I don't think this is art nor creative, I think this is a cheap way to invoke a reaction, really poor taste,
It doesn't make me uncomfortable, it looks like a "first idea"
that should have been past over or crossed off the list, i don't think it will communicate what you are trying to say

Love it. The church, especially in America, is way too comfortable. I think we should have to think, wrestle, struggle with things like this. Who Christ calls us to be and what he wants us to do is not always particularly popular, but it is extreme. We aren't used to having to deal with these types of issues face-to-face here in the states, but it is ever-present overseas.

I disagree with this statement. I think it is great graphic art. And it does invoke a reaction. I am not sure the intended purpose for it is but I think it makes a very great point. Who are our enemies? And Jesus says to love them - he doesn't give commentary on how bad they are he says love them.
However, I do think that we need to stand against injustice and evil men. But that of course is why God gave us a secular government. However, on an individual basis - I need to love my enemy and pray for their well being - even the terrorist and the dictator.
Excellent art and an excellent use of design and typography. The red, black and white color break up is great - it's simple and basic but gets the point across. Excellent work.

i wouldn't ever use a graphic of Adolph Hitler or Osama Bin Laden, it just doesn't make sense. GREAT design work though, I have no idea how to do that with the colors, did you draw that? or is it stock art?
I don't think I'm alone...I completely skip the idea of wrestling with 'loving my enemy' and go right to...YUCK, Hitler, why is that there on the wall of my church, maybe thats what you're going for
As I'm typing, I'm thinking, maybe its because we don't know Hitler, and Osama isn't a very proven threat, I look at Hitler and say "I heard he was a bad guy"
I could see the poster evoking quite a reaction out of me if it showed the Columbine/VTech shooter(s) etc then I would think "wow, do I really love them as Christ would?"

At 1st glance I didn't realize the submission was 3 individual posters, I thought it was one image. I was kinda sad that it wasn't all one. But I do love the image, and the idea.
I think that only very little people won't connect with these images. I think it will broadly be recognizable and will arrest most who see it.
Great work.

Is this what our generation has come to? Seriously? We have no reference of history...even 7 year ago, world changing history? There is something seriously wrong with a society where someone can crash a plane into the heart of NYC and kill thousands of people and seven years later, despite the fact that we are still in a war because of it, say Osama isn't a very proven threat.
Sad thing is, I think you probably are right.
That being said, I think the center poster is strong. The other two truthfully don't invoke the kind of reaction I wish they did in me. Perhaps we all are desensitized to their images. These work very well together, but apart I fear they may lose their impact visually and otherwise.
