Andean Potoo (Nyctibius maculosus)
Andean Potoo (Nyctibius maculosus). Cabanas San Isidro, Cosanga, eastern Andes, Ecuador. This nocturnal bird is apparently quite difficult to find during daylight, but when found at a day roost is invariably asleep, but this one was wide awake. They also can lay an egg on exposed sites like this, with the egg wedged into a cavity on top of the tree/post.
