Über Wasser

Er sei auf dem Weg zurück nach Hause, antwortete der Frührentner dem Kind, das ihn gefragt hatte wohin er mit dem Zug fahre. Und auf die nächste Frage kam die Antwort, dass er von einer Kur komme. Es sei eine Kur für die Seele gab er weiterhin Auskunft und schließlich wurde klar, dass er einen Aufenthalt in einer psychiatrischen Klinik hinter sich hätte. Den endgültig letzten, wie er betonte. Abgesehen von mir saßen noch die Eltern des Mädchens im Abteil, doch die lasen in ihren Zeitschriften und mischten sich nicht nur kurz ein, um zu sehen, ob der grauhaarige Herr sich nicht genervt fühle. Das schien nicht der Fall, denn ich bemerkte, wie zwischen ihm und dem Kind eine sonderbare Vertrautheit entstand, über die ich besorgt geworden wäre, säßen die Eltern nicht mit im Zug.
Kind und Mann sprachen miteinander über derart persönliche Dinge, dass ich mich wunderte. So erfuhr ich nicht nur, dass er von seiner Frau verlassen worden war, sondern auch warum. Als Tauchlehrer und Wracktaucher sei er mit vielen Menschen zusammen gekommen. Und auch mit schönen Frauen.
Das Mädchen nickte und sagte, sie könne sich den Rest denken und erklärte, dass ihre beste Freundin auch ein uneheliches Kind sei. Seine Eltern hätten sich daraufhin getrennt.
„Ich konnte mich in den letzten Jahren wenig um meine Kinder kümmern“, sagte der Mann. „Aber ich kann jetzt sagen, dass ich das sehr bedauere. Früher habe ich solche Gefühle einfach in Alkohohl ertränkt.“
„Die Mutter meiner Freundin trinkt auch“, sagte das Mädchen und erklärte, dass eine Haushälterin aber alles erledige. Geld spiele da keine Rolle. Ihrer Freundin mache das mit dem Alkohol nichts aus. Wenn ihre Mutter betrunken sei, herrsche weniger Druck.
Ja, sagte der Mann, alles habe auch seine guten Seiten. Doch wenn man lange genug getaucht und Perlen in der Tiefe gesucht habe, dann brauche man die alten Gifte nicht mehr, und Alkohol sei Gift, Gift für ein klares Bewusstsein.
„Dann trinkst du jetzt nicht mehr?“
„Seit fünf Jahren keinen Tropfen. Ich bin jetzt über Wasser.“
