Kickboxing Coots

Kickboxing Coots

When this action started I didn't think I had the settings right, but you just gotta lucky once in a while.

I was at Merritt and Viera, while Linda was in Jacksonville for that weekend. When she got home, she asked me what my best shot was. I told her I thought it was one of the coot shots, to which she chuckled. She was standing behind me when I brought up this shot and there was total silence. I turned around to see if she was still in the room, and she was staring at the monitor with her mouth wide open. Her only comment was "wow you should enter that in a contest". So I guess that meant she liked it !!

Equal Time

Equal Time

I posted a male Hoodie yesterday and today the female gets her Flickr time. IMHO I think in some lighting conditions the female Hooded Mergansers are more photogenic then the males.

Very lucky to get these guys in close. When you get out of the car they will move off a little bit, but once you become part of the landscape, they will come back in fairly close. But then comes the rude people, they pull their car/truck right up to your tripod and sit there with the engine running, until the dirty look that I'm giving them moves them along. What is really stupid is most everyone is parked on the opposite side and then they stop on the side that all the tripods are set up on and then the traffic can't get buy until they move. Then you get the ones that are smart enough to park on the side away from the tripods, but not smart enough to not slam their doors and then they walk up to you quickly to ask what kind of ducks are they, and my response was they are gone ducks. It amazes me that these people don't see or they just don't care about their own movements and the affect they are having on the ducks.
