• the pictures hang from the picture molding.
  • as much as i love the light & getting woken up by the sun in the morning, i need heavier drapes -- i'm on the first floor & the street's right outside!

bedroom

after the living room's finished, i'll start on this room (though i did splurge on new sheets, duvet & pillows) new drapes & rods are a must -- i'll probably use a silver version of the rods i'm using in the living room. the photos hanging here were taken by my cousin jellel. i'm thinking a zebra skin print cowhide rug would be nice and go with the 30s jean harlow vibe i'm going for.

    i'm in la.
    thanks for the compliments *blush*

the credit goes to at cause it's all thanks to at that the apt got to this stage. this is post whole apt cure. during that time, i arranged the room & hung the pictures & got the nighttables. doing a one room would be the next stage -- getting a real bed frame, a rug, painting the walls, recovering the chair in the corner and moving the tv out (it's on the wall you can't see!). i've already started my style tray (it's more of a style book made in a photo album)

    Abby,

How tall are your bedside lamps? And can you use lightblbs that are over 60 watts in them? I have been look at similar lamps, but keep finding ones that are too small.

    thx,
    aiisa

ps sorry I didn't see you at Turquoise's opening

    alisa,

sorry i'm only answering you now (holidays and all...) i didn't see you at turquoise's either -- though i looked! -- probably because i was in the back of house stroking the flocked wallpaper! loved her stuff even more in person.

i got the lamps at home expo. they're tallish (maybe 24? i'll measure tonite & let you know) -- but the perfect height for reading in bed (which i do a lot of). i have a reveal bulb and a pink bulb in each and yes, i'll check but i'm pretty sure i've got a 75 wat t in each socket. i got these at home expo in westwood though i've seen similar ones at jc penney studio shop, williams sonoma home and pottery barn. what i like about mine is that the base is chrome & the pulls are chrome & the thing that screws the harp on is chrome and the chrome is really solid so the lamp has some heft to it.

    happy new year!!

    abby -
my lamp bases are 15"h. Now I am hunting for the perfect white shades. I use the reveal light bulbs as well, I think they make a major difference!

    cheers,
